I don't want you to change for me
I do not want to change you
all I really want is this
to be a friend, to be true

I want to show you a better life
with people who will treat you right
I want to ease your pains
that keep you up at night

I want you to know what I know
I want you to see what I see
and I want you to want it too
and change for you, not me

I could show you these things
I wish to give them all to you
but it won't be so easy as that
it will all be up to you

I can't just hand them out
like pretzels or gummy bears
you will have to work for them
and show that you really care

but once you've done this
all that I have will be yours
I will give you everything
everything and more
